Name: Thune
Short Description: Thune is a media player able to handle most audio files, convert file formats, and most importantly, create playlists tailored to match and alter the user's moods. In addition to making organizing a music library easier.
Long Description: Thune is a media player written entirely in Python using Pymedia for audio capability and perhaps video capability in the future. The interface is done with pyGTK. At first, users will have to define a set of attributes for either each track or each album, depending on the user's preference. This consists of a wheel of moods with draggable points to define the mood and tone of the track or album. After an initial learning period, the program will be able to select playlists with a gradiential progression of mood of tone starting at the user's current inputted mood and transitioning to a desired mood. Because music can have subtle psychological effects on mood, this will be able to alter the user's mood. The ultimate goal for the project, of course, will be to automatically analyze each track or album and determine by frequency pattern and such the approximate mood of the piece. Users will also be able to manage their music library through Thune, as a web-like layout of the file system and music library will be used in place of the traditional tree layout. This should make music locations more visible and easier to manage. Now that audio is fully enabled, I expect to launch the first release by Father's Day.
