Hey,

does anyone have a Windows binary build of Pymedia for Python 2.5?

I don't have compiler or libraries installed, so I cannot just quickly build it myself. Maybe anyone could do this or already has done this?

Thanks, Fossie

Okay, I finally got hold of the right MS VC++ Compiler (mingw32 gave gazillions of errors) and built PyMedia for Python 2.5 on Windows. If anyone is interested in that built, contact me. The forum system does not allow me to post the file and not even a link.

Or please send it to dborisov at pymedia org

Okay, since there seems to be some demand for it, I try to post a link to my built of PyMedia 1.3.7.3 for Python 2.5 on Windows again.

Note:
1. I am not part of the PyMedia team and I have no clue what I am doing.
2. This version is not compiled against the external libraries, so probably a lot of functionality is missing (I only needed mp3+wav playback..).

Otherwise, enjoy:
**EDITED: Link removed, please see post below***

Sweet. Thanks for the file. I was trying to do the exact thing using Mingw32. I do have Visual Studio 2005 Express if that is able to work (looks like it can't compile C++ only C#). I installed it because of the SDK for my cellphone but it wants me to install a huge amount of stuff (even IIS). All I really wanted to do was figure out why I can't get python to install on my smartphone (motorola Q) and then try to get zope running on it just for fun. Now I may be able to get further on my project.

I'm making a python based CD ripper to AAC (plus it will do WAV and MP3 to AAC). For now I'm going to use some of the NeroCMD functions and Nero Digital files. I don't know if these are available for linux but I'm trying to write it modular so I can upgrade how things are done or provide multiple ways from which you can choose.

Until I get it working and have some good results in encoding my own CD's this will be a personal project but at some point I will probably release it on my website. Haven't done much on my website lately so you should be able to notice when I get around to updating it and adding this project there.

Ack, the posting rule sure can be annoying. I'll post my website later since it keeps giving me errors.

I am also looking for a windows binary of 1.3.7.3 for python 2.5. I have downloaded the binary linked above and tried it. However, I get some fundamental functionality errors when I try the following code (which worked perfectly in 1.3.7.2 under Python 2.4):

Code:

import pymedia.audio.sound as sound
import pymedia.audio.acodec as acodec

cparams = {
    'id': acodec.getCodecID('mp3'),
    'bitrate': 48000,
    'sample_rate': 22050,
    'channels': 1
    }
ac = acodec.Encoder(cparams)    #!!! GENERAL FAULT happens here

# these are OK
snd = sound.Input(22050, 1, sound.AFMT_U16_LE)
spa = sound.SpectrAnalyzer(1, 100, 4)

Apparently, something is wrong with the mp3 codec dependency... I suspect it's because it was not compiled quite right (nice try, though Wink). I don't have any compiler myself, so it would be nice to have a complete prebuilt binary for shmucks like me Rolling Eyes

Can anyone help? I've upgraded to Python 2.5 recently. I need pymedia functionality for mp3 encoding and spectrum analysis, as seen from my snippet above. Is an official binary with full functionality going to be available soon?

Thanks!

I guess you didn't read what fossie wrote.

It is only the essentials.

Here is the python 2.5 version.
I did not run full test suit on it yet. I hope it should work just fine.
Try it:

Dmitry,

Thank you very much for the update. It works very well for me, just like it did under 2.4. Cheers!
